The term supply region is often used to describe a geographic area in which the production, processing, distribution, and supply of food are organized.
In the TEIKEI Wiki, we consciously use the term supply landscape instead.
The reason for this is that a region is frequently defined by political or administrative boundaries—such as municipal, district, cantonal, or national borders.
Agriculture, however, follows different connections.
It is shaped by soils, water, climate, topography, ecosystems, cultural and economic relationships, as well as the long-term patterns of the Scale of Permanence. These natural connections often clearly transcend political boundaries.
The term supply landscape better reflects this perspective. It describes a living landscape space in which production, processing, logistics, communities, and supply are interconnected along natural and cultural conditions.
