The Agora Marketplace exists on multiple levels: from one’s own community to individual farms, all the way to offerings across national borders.
Each level and each offering is anchored in a supply landscape. In the diagram, each row links to the page for that level. Above all levels is the Supply Marketplace. It serves as the directory showing which product is available where.
Time Levels: This page shows all levels, including those that do not yet exist. Each level indicates whether it is currently operational (This is how it is), planned for Agora 3.0 (This is how it will be), or a future outlook (This is how it could be).
The key question for each level: What kind of marketplace is it, who offers what there, for whom, and is it already available today? The details can be found on the level’s page under “At a glance.”
| Level | Which marketplace | Who offers | What | For whom | Time level |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Community (super-local) | Marketplace of a community | Members of the community | what they grow themselves (“Homegrown”) | the other members of the same community | This is how it could be |
| Farm (local) | Marketplace of a farm, with its own tile | an individual farm | its own offering: entry to basic cost participation and harvest share, limited harvest shares | people, communities, kitchens, and canteens on site | This is how it will be |
| Farm collective (regional) | Marketplace of a farm collective | several farms jointly | a joint regional offering | members and communities in the region | This is how it could be |
| Regional consolidation (regional) | Regional marketplace | the regional consolidation | regional products and Europe-regional harvest shares | communities, sub-communities, kitchens, and canteens in the region | This is how it will be |
| Country (national) | National marketplace: de., ch., se.teikei.shop | the national structure, currently TEIKEI itself | products and harvest shares, e.g., from TEIKEI Olive and TEIKEI Fruit | communities and members in the country, commercial buyers, wholesalers | This is how it is |
| Europe-regional | currently the national marketplaces of the destination countries; as an outlook, a marketplace of the collection warehouse | farms and projects in the country of origin, consolidated via a collection warehouse | harvest shares from another European country | communities and members in the destination countries | This is how it is |
| Outside Europe | no dedicated marketplace: national marketplaces and Supply Marketplace | farms and projects outside Europe | coffee, cocoa, cashew, and similar | communities and members in Europe | This is how it could be |
Currently operational (Agora 2.0) are the national marketplaces. There, TEIKEI offers the products itself, including harvest shares across national borders. Regional consolidation and farms with their own offerings are planned for Agora 3.0. Community, farm collective, the level outside Europe, and the Supply Marketplace are future outlooks.
The levels follow the TEIKEI networking language: super-local, local, regional, national, and Europe-regional. Additionally, the level outside Europe is under consideration.
| Level | Who offers | How the goods flow | Who is responsible |
|---|---|---|---|
| super-local | the community: what members grow themselves (“Homegrown”) | within the community, from member to member | the community |
| local | an individual farm with its own offering on site | directly from the farm to the pickup location and members | the farm |
| regional | a farm collective: several farms with a joint offering | via their own distribution or via regional consolidation | the farm collective |
| regional | the regional consolidation: it consolidates farms and farm collectives | to pickup locations and directly to sub-communities | the regional consolidation and the regional structure |
| national | the national marketplace, e.g., de.teikei.shop, ch.teikei.shop, se.teikei.shop | from the collection warehouse via the distribution warehouse to regional consolidation | the national structure |
| Europe-regional | projects across national borders, e.g., TEIKEI Olive and TEIKEI Fruit | from the country of origin to the destination country | not yet defined |
| outside Europe | products that do not grow in Europe, e.g., coffee, cocoa, cashew (under consideration, not yet elaborated) | from countries of origin outside Europe | not yet defined |
A farm is local. A farm collective is regional, even if it is not connected to a regional consolidation and develops its own regional offering.
Products that do not grow in Europe, such as coffee, cocoa, or cashew, are also under consideration. They are shown with dashed lines in the diagram because this level has not yet been elaborated. More details can be found on the page Level outside Europe. An example is the independent project TEIKEI Coffee.
The levels do not stand alone. Each level and each offering belongs to a supply landscape: with its farms, pickup locations, communities, and, where available, a regional consolidation.
This ensures transparency about where an offering comes from and who supports it locally.
Anyone who purchases food can participate at every level. Not just individuals, but also groups, stores, and businesses:
| Who purchases | How |
|---|---|
| Communities, food co-ops, and privately organized groups | order together and pick up at their pickup location |
| TEIKEI Shops and other member stores | pass on the products with a resale logic to their customers and are often pickup locations themselves |
| Processing businesses | purchase large quantities, e.g., bakeries that need a lot of olive oil |
| Kitchens and canteens | order directly from the farm or, where available, via regional consolidation, as with Koopernikus Zürich |
The available options are shown in the section Purchase models.
The Supply Marketplace is not a separate level. It serves as the directory across all levels and countries: Which product is available where, in which community, in which region, via which regional consolidation, for private individuals (B2C) and businesses (B2B)?
It distinguishes between one-time orders and harvest shares.
Those searching can filter the offerings, for example:
The products are then automatically filtered by their availability.
Members pay in the Agora Marketplace.
Whether a transaction fee is charged depends on whether a basic cost participation is paid for a participant’s account. Proposal: With basic cost participation, the transaction fee is waived; without basic cost participation, a transaction fee is applied.
At the regional and national levels, the economic processing is handled by the respective regional or national structure. Who handles processing at the community, farm, and farm collective levels is still open.
Each level has its own page. It describes what is meant, who offers, and how goods, money, information, and responsibility flow at that level:
