Breeding is the work of developing, preserving, and propagating varieties, breeds, and cultures.
In the TEIKEI network, breeding is understood broadly. It encompasses all living things on which production and processing are based.
Breeding stands at the beginning of the responsibility chain. Before a farm can cultivate crops, raise animals, or process food, it needs seeds, planting material, animals, and cultures.
Breeding includes four fields:
In each field, there are three tasks:
Breeding takes a lot of time. It only succeeds if it is supported over many years. In the TEIKEI network, this can happen through a minimal basic cost contribution that members pay monthly and that goes to the breeders.
Breeding develops, preserves, and propagates the living things from which sustenance arises: seeds, planting material, animals, and cultures.
